Sweet holy mother of the thrift gods!

The laws of op-shopping have been confounding me lately. It seems that every time I am in the presence of a fellow thrifter and the conversation steers to our mutually-loved pastime, I bemoan the current lack of decent clothing (heck, I've even done it here!) and then get nostalgic for 'the good old days' where I could snatch up silk smoking jackets and geometric shift dresses for under $5, and where Miller's Fashion Club was a mere lurking presence rather than the evil behemoth we now know it to be.

However, it would appear that my laments have had the opposite effect to that which I would have expected. Instead of being brutally smote for my lack of faith, I am being rewarded with some sweet finds...

In town with my little bro T-Bone last week, we ducked into one of our preferred secondhand haunts so that he could look for shirts. Idly sifting through the dresses while he was in the change room, I realised that there was some potential on that thar rack. Several hurried clothing changes later, I emerged with these four dresses:

(Someone woke up mid-photo-shoot)

I nearly lost my lunch when I realised what a gem that last one is. It looks as though it's been handmade, and someone has done the most beautiful job of it, lining it and all.

And the print, my word, that print! Very Temple of the Sun (have I been making Baboushka watch Tintin so that I can watch it too? Yes. Yes I have). I think I have found my life's mission - to discover the maker of that fabric. If anyone knows how I could do this, I will be eternally grateful and (may even rustle up a present of some kind... if, you know, the thrift gods are feeling benevolent).

Love the last dress! ( and the other three but the last one is VERY special )

I am similarly dismayed by the abundance of Millers 'Fashion' Club abominations in op shops. They are the equivilent of cane toads if you asked me!!!

This is a haul the likes of which mere mortals rarely see. Bow at the feet of the vintage goddess! And could you look more fantastic in any of these? One is better than the last. Good boobage, too!

@megs: I'm considering starting a Miller's petition, the response has been strong! And you are right to put 'fashion' in inverted commas ;-)

@K.Line: ridiculous, right? Clearly the moral of the story is to complain at length about the lack of decent vintage clothes. And I am making as much of the boobage as possible before feeding ceases and they wither away ;-)

Lovely dresses! I keep seeing great 60s/70s clothes coming out of Australia. :) I've been having more trouble finding clothing lately (I wear vintage every day) and it's starting to worry me.

You hit the jackpot, lady!! Each dress was leading up the spectacular last one. Now I shall moan "I neeeeever find things like that in Virginia". Though one day last year I did get four pairs of shoes in one day (including a pair of Tod loafers and black flat riding boots). It was my thrift jackpot.

That last dress totally rocks the house. Well done. I'm in the land of no good op shop finds at the moment, though I keep buying super cute baby clothes and then buying them just in case.

Congrats! But I wonder if it isn't you who make them seem so gorgeous?

I am so jealous of that last dress. It looks amazing on you! You look great in the orange frock too - It's a hard colour to pull off and you do it well.

If you start and anti-Millers petition, I will be the first to sign it.
